Intersecting Horizons: Valley Threads

This work is from my Intersecting Horizons series and is made of hand cut paper forms that are attached in layers. The paper forms are attached to a wire then an additional wire structure is formed to provide support and depth. The source material is an old sewing textbook that was acquired while visiting family in Arizona. The pages are weathered, but there are bright hints of red ink along with text and imagery. The content of the book represents a "traditional wife" and those elements are not unrecognizable in the altered form.
