I painted the surfaces with casein over incised lines. The lines relate to the pieces as a whole. The two pieces fit like a puzzle, inspired somewhat from doing the Spelling Bee Puzzle in the New York Times every day. The color relationship between the two was important and having the joined edges interacting with a flash.
